Christmas Cards 2015

Trying to keep a trend going from last year, and busy with all other things this was a little late to start with. Having only a few days I needed a simple to do design but that had some fun in it. I wanted to keep the 3D, pop-up nature as an important element like last year but time was against me. So keeping it simple, bought some nice paper stock, some puffy paint and got out my trusty scalpel once again.
The Design

For this stage I like to do my design digitally first. I opened up Illustrator and went to work on creating some simple outlines, keeping the guides simple enough to follow. Cut the border off, and then solid was cut and dotted was scored for easy, clean folds.
Putting it together

Next was to stick the backing card paper on. Once again I went to my favourite paper stock site: Inspire Me Papers. This year I wanted color to be the main feature. Winter was a bit grey this year so some bright colors would bring a spark of fun and shine! Using card colors that were bright and sparkly was just what I needed.

First I stuck on one side to make sure the folds lined up and then firmly glued the other half.
Puffy Paint

I wanted 3D paint, so my acrylics were not up to that task in a nice way. Having Google and Amazon at my disposal I found Puffy Paint was my best solution. Tooking the neon colors I was all to excited to work with this stuff. It was solid, bright and so easy to use. These would become the star of the show!
The End Result

So in the end these were the cards that I ended up with, all 85 of them. Next year I believe the end goal is 100 so that will need some pre-planning. I had four colors: blue, purple, red and green. Every card was unique with their dot design/pattern so all had a personal touch of some kind.

Some receivers even got lucky enough to have a personal touch from the cats, some lovely tail hair (they always need to get invovled somehow).

The process was clean, quick and the end was amazing! They had a festive and bright feel to light up the grey Christmas of this year.
Thank you for viewing and hope you enjoyed!
